Coach's Report
5/10/2008 Acers Vs Reigate Falcons
Well done on a convincing victory over the new team in the league. Especially to Michelle in her Acers debut swishing a nifty 6 points, being the joint 2nd leading scorer for the game.
Worrying though, is the time it took us to get into the swing of our offence. We all know what we need to do against the 2-1-2 defence they played, and we need to focus as a team on setting up the play correctly. We began to show how well it works in the 2nd and 3rd quarters giving us several wide-open shots, and we will run through the second options in training over the next two weeks. Nice to see such a balanced attack, the stats attached say it all.
MVP - Dee, for excellent control of the game and keying the fastbreak options when available.
22/10/2008 Acers Vs Tandridge
Congrats on a top thumping of Tandridge last night, who still have their key veteran players, but played a lot of their younger girls in the second half. Again solid defence inside and hustle on the perimeter allowing 0 points in the 4th quarter, and a scoring burst in the 3rd keyed by Aimee's 8 point quarter.
The league don't seem to be doing MVPs this season, so I'm going to do them instead. Paula was MVP for last week, with the top shooting, this week it's Shelley for anticipation on D, and foul shooting ;o)) Hope the knee is ok.

Please find attached stats from last nights game.
Well done to all on a tough, gritty performance against a very physical opposition. We hit a lot of open shots and weren't afraid to have a go at them inside, but noteworthy was our defensive effort against them, especially in the second half, where they only scored 3 baskets inside. They were lucky to escape with that win after 3 long 3 point shots towards the end of the game.
However, two obvious things we need to do better......(1) foul shooting. I would encourage you to practise your foul shooting technique whenever possible. By all means ask if you need guidance. (2) controlling our defensive rebounds.
They got far too many second chances, we need to really battle physically to get early inside position on their players, when their shots go up. And not let them push you underneath the basket.....use those legs and push them back with your backside.
Also very pleasing to see the debuts of Aimee and Laura. Although you didn't fill the stat sheet, your contributions defensively and control on offense were excellent. Look forward to seeing more of you in action.
